Go Live Your Life!

I am a huge country music fan that loves artists from the 20's all the way up to today's country. I love Hank Williams Sr, Eddie Rabbit, Tammy Wynette, The Highway Men, Brantley Gilbert, Jason Alden, Luke Bryan and everyone in between.

Back in the 90's, I was in love with Wade Hayes. He was an artist from Oklahoma with a style that was so unique. The best way to explain his music is taking Merle Haggard, Gary Morris, George Strait, and Keith Whitley, combine all their style of music and Wade was born.

Wade enjoyed success in the 90's and was on top of the world. Then it seemed like the radio stations didn't like him anymore and you hardly heard his music anymore. The next time I heard anything about Wade was in 2011 when it was reported that he was diagnosed with stage IV colon cancer.

I felt like I was losing a close friend even though I had only met Wade once but his music made such an impact on me. This is not the first time cancer has affected me. I lost my mother in 1995 from ovarian cancer, my dad in 1998 to lung cancer, and way too many friends and extended family to list. My heart broke for Wade and what he was going through.

Then a year later, it seemed that Wade was in remission and I was happy and relieved for him but it was short lived. In 2013, Wade once again found himself facing cancer when it returned in his lymph nodes. I thought to myself, "this poor guy can't catch a break!".

Finally Wade was told that he was cancer free! Here is a guy that had a 12% chance of living, had cancer come back, and now is cancer free. He wrote a song about his experience called Go Live Your Life.

...

I am so happy that Wade is cancer free and healthy but now cancer has come back into my life. A close family member ignored the signs that something was wrong and now there is a big possibility that my love one has kidney cancer.

The main reason why I am writing this story is because what Wade went through and his song has inspired me so much. We don't know how long we are given on Earth and yet we all take it for granted. We also ignore health issues until it is too late. Please take the time to get routine tests because even if you do not have a family history with a disease doesn't mean that you can not get it.

I am hoping that my love one will be ok and I will stand beside them like I have in the past with other love ones but it has opened my eyes. Life is too short and it is very precious. Don't let a tragedy like cancer make you realize that. Do yourself a favor and take mine and Wade's advice: Go Live Your Life!
