Many people ask me "Why do you do surveys? What do you get out of them?" Sometimes it is hard for me to answer this question because I don't know where to start.
My first answer would be because I want my voice to be heard. Since I have a degree in business management and I have worked in customer service since I was 15, this is very important to me. Companies rely on us, the consumer, to let them know about products. We have no problem letting a company know when there is a problem but seldom do we let them know when they are doing something right. This is one major reason why we have surveys.
Now companies know that they will not get the answers from the consumer unless there is some sort of payment for their time. That's when online surveys come into play. Theses companies work with marketing outlets so that a business can find out what the consumer wants. Most will give consumers points that you can add up for different gift cards for different amounts. Some offer paypal cash in options and there are a select few that will send you a check( some do charge a fee for this). This reason is the main reason why most people do surveys.
Now the second reason why I do surveys is because some companies will give you a first look of a product that is not on the market. This is called R&D(research and developmen) and this is what they use so that they are not creating all kinds of products that will never get purchased by the consumer. I love seeing all the different products that companies are working on; some good, some crazy, and some I would never try. When I take the survey, the company can find out how I feel about the product and determine if they will develop it or not.
My last reason for doing surveys is the opportunity of receiving free products. I mean really who doesn't like free things?! The cool thing about this is most of the time, you get products that are already on the market but every so often, you get the prototype of a product that is still in R&D, which I love. Another great thing about this is you take one survey and get points for that, then you get the free product, then a few weeks later you take another survey about the product and receive more points. I love it when this happens because you really get paid for your services.
There you have it everyone. I know I can go on and on with the reasons but I think I have talked long enough. Next time, I will pick another company that I am working with and give you a peek into it.
